U1/10 Troststraße

Underground

U1/10 Troststrasse is part of the U1 extension to the south of Vienna from the station Reumannplatz to the station Rothneusiedl.

The section U1/10 comprised the reconstruction of the existing southern end of underground line U1 and the new construction of an adjacent 770 m long section of the U1 extension to Oberlaa.

The conversion of the subterranean 4-track reverser (length: 225 m) at Reumannplatz consisted of the alteration of two holding tracks into two main tracks, the renovation of the old diaphragm walls and the installation of ventilation systems (for waste air and smoke in case of fire).

„ What a pity that the fantastically spacious underground cavities are filled up by underground railway development. “

New construction consisted of two single-track NATM tunnels (length: approx. 1300 m) and a single station tube (length: 115 m) with waterproof inner site concrete shells installed subsequently.

Furthermore two access shafts (Klausenburgerstrasse and Angeligasse) and a station tunnel were constructed by cut-and-cover method.
