U2/22 Rathaus
Tunnelling and special civil engineering in all its glory: from the new construction of the station structures to the upgrading of the existing U2 line and the tunnelling under historic buildings.
Since 2016, we have been supporting the major U2/22 “Rathaus” project in the areas of checking engineering and construction site coordination - from submission to tendering and execution. In this challenging project in the heart of Vienna, we are demonstrating our full expertise in all tunnel and special civil engineering processes under historic buildings.

Among other things, we are supervising the construction of five shafts around 30 meters deep using the cut-and-cover method, the upgrading of the existing U2 line, as well as the conventional excavation of around 2 km of line tunnel, two station tunnels, five cross-passages and two escalator tunnels.
Existing buildings were also secured through targeted strengthening measures and settlement compensation. Throughout the entire construction phase, we are continuously at Wiener Linien's side - especially when it comes to assessing the impact on surrounding buildings and existing structures.
