An office building at Vienna’s Ringstrasse erected in the 1950s was converted into a hotel with 188 rooms and three restaurants.
During implementation special attention was paid to the location in the historical city centre and to the fact that the facade and the foyer were listed monuments.
Furthermore the building fabric was a big challenge because it had to be adapted to the standard of a modern hotel in compliance with contemporary guidelines. One part of the building had to be completely demolished and newly erected in order to reach this objective.
In the other parts of the building partial demolition and modernization was planned. Reinforcement measures comprised the strengthening of existing reinforced concrete ribbed slabs with CFRP lamination. HVACR as well as electrical installations correspond to the state-of-the-art requirements.
