Simone Sauer
As Executive Assistant, Simone Sauer gives us insight into her work, which ranges from classic schedule coordination to involvement in strategically important acquisitions. As the first point of contact for our management team, she has been ensuring smooth processes and good communication between teams, management and external partners for 18 years. Her schedule makes it clear: at FCP, being an assistant is far more than classic organisational work.
Morning Organisation & Acquisitions
My working day usually starts around 8:00 a.m. First, I get an overview of messages, appointments and current topics from colleagues. Since my line managers are responsible for different departments, I'm closely connected with many teams and get insight into a large variety of projects every day.
At 9:00 a.m., as I do on most days, I turn to an acquisition – an area that has grown on me over the years and that I particularly enjoy today. I research reference projects, prepare documents and independently support teams with applications for new projects. This exact mix of organisation, personal responsibility and varied topics is what makes my working day exciting – it definitely never gets boring.
Communal Lunches & Department Exchange
At 12:00 p.m., I close my laptop and head to the communal lunch with colleagues – an initiative I organise for our employees so that we can come together across disciplines once a week, while also donating to a good cause.
Around 2:00 p.m., I head to today's exchange with the other assistants, which takes place roughly every two months. This exchange is incredibly valuable, because every assistant role here looks a little different. You learn from one another, get a better understanding of what others are working on, and always know who to turn to with questions.
Afterwards, there's a final coordination call on today's acquisition, where I add the finishing touches. Normally – today included – I work until around 5:00 p.m.. Of course, there are also phases where you need to be flexible or put in a bit more effort, especially since the construction industry is so dynamic. At the same time, that effort is seen and appreciated. It's exactly this mutual understanding and support within the team that makes a real difference to me.

Why I'm Here
What started as a classic assistant role has evolved alongside the company over the years. Between meetings, project coordination and spontaneous questions, every day stays varied. People support one another, and you quickly notice in everyday work that collaboration here is truly lived.
In the end, it's not just the projects that count here, but above all the people behind them.
It's exactly this mix of trust, growth and human connection that still makes my job special, even after 18 years.
