Within the scope of the innovation test runs on the new route Vienna-St. Pölten comprehensive measurements were performed at altogether nine control sections.
The measurements comprised the recording of noise emissions during train passages on the open track and in the tunnel, the effectiveness of the floating track slab systems in Lainzer Tunnel, the dynamic interaction of bridge and track structures, the acoustic performance of a noise barrier near the tracks and and the behaviour of the track system in case of velocities up to 330 km/h.
On the basis of the recorded measurement data important findings regarding safety, effectiveness and efficiency could be acquired. The surveys prepared represented the basis for the start of operation of the route.
