Above Vienna’s Franz-Josefs railway station, the Althan Quartier formed a trend-setting city district centre that combines modern living with sustainability.
Spanning an area of 2.4 hectares, the development comprised a total gross floor area of 130,000 m², combining offices, co-working spaces, restaurants, neighbourhood stores, service providers, shops, high-quality apartments, a hotel and a parking garage.
On this project, the CC Site Supervision team was responsible for site supervision of the entire construction process, the building services and electrical engineering – each together with other specialist partners – as well as the depollution of harmful substances and extraneous material. Our "Acoustics, Dynamics, Building Physics & Measurement" team also ensured precise monitoring of vibrations, air pollution control and noise technology.
A particular focus of the work was on the respectful handling of the existing structure. Thanks to revitalisation instead of new construction, 18,625 tons of CO₂ were saved – an impressive example of resource-efficient urban development. The office areas were already pre-certified with the ÖGNI certificate in gold.
The project was subsequently fully completed and brought into operation.
