From Parking Place to Park
KliNa Project of the Month 10/2025: FCP Helps Design Vienna’s Biggest Inner-City Greening.
In Naschpark – the former parking place near Naschmarkt in Vienna’s 6th district – the biggest inner-city transformation from a sealed area into a green oasis took place on approx. 6,820 m². Where asphalt and parking cars were dominating previously, trees, meadows and colourful beds of flowers invite people to stay now. Almost 70 new trees, more than 50,000 plants, fountains, hammocks and picnic tables make Naschpark a new meeting point for all generations.
User-friendly traffic area
FCP was responsible for traffic design in this flagship project. On behalf of Wiener Gewässer Management Gesellschaft mbH the team of the CC Traffic Design provided for a clear separation of pedestrian and cycling traffic in future and for the establishment of a safe, user-friendly traffic area.
“Naschpark is a best-practice example for sustainable, green city development. It reduces urban heat islands, promotes active mobility and creates new free spaces. Our traffic design was an important contribution for creating a future-proof, safe and inclusive city area”, said FCP managing director Günther Achs.

Hand in Hand for more quality of life
Naschpark has been developed in an intensive participation process together with neighbours, experts and architectural offices since 2021. The result impressively shows how public participation, ecological city planning and intelligent traffic solutions can interact.
Our objective is to create liveable areas for future generations by means of innovative engineering services – this makes the redesigned Naschpark our KliNa project of the month October 2025!
