Training LAB

Digital Competence for Sustainable Building. As a partner FCP prepares training courses in the fields of sustainability and digitization in the training lab. Led by “Digital Findet Stadt” the consortium is developing practical qualification offers for the construction and real estate industry. The objective is to permanently anchor competences and sustainability as well as decarbonization in company practice.

Training LAB

Practical Know-how for Digital Planning, Construction and Operation

Artificial intelligence (AI), Building Information Modeling (BIM) and automated processes open new opportunities for the design, construction and operation of buildings and infrastructure. To be able to use these opportunities, companies need respective competences apart from the appropriate technologies.

Here is where the training lab sponsored by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) comes in. The cooperation project is running from 4 May 2026 to 3 May 2031 and shall support companies in anchoring digital and sustainable working methods in practice. FCP participates as consortium partner and prepares training courses in the fields of sustainability and digitization. The company brings in its experience with digital methods, data-based design processes and interdisciplinary engineering.

Digital Engineering from the Application

The combination of technological knowledge and specific tasks characterizes the digital engineering approach of FCP. Examples from the company are the in-house PlanZ app for automated payment plan preparation, AI-assisted event recognition in vibration measurement data as well as DPU® – Digital Project Universe, a Common Data Environment (CDE) based on Microsoft Teams.

These developments show different application fields: the automation of recurrent tasks, the assessment of measurement data and structured cooperation in projects. Experience gained from that generates a practical background for the professional participation of FCP in the training lab.

To us digital engineering is far more than the digitization of existing processes. The objective is to intelligently combine data, digital technologies and interdisciplinary engineering.

Managing Director FCP

“To us digital engineering is far more than the digitization of existing processes”, declares Wolf-Dietrich Denk, managing director of FCP. “The objective is to intelligently combine data, digital technologies and interdisciplinary engineering. This creates more efficient planning processes, higher transparency, better bases for decision-making as well as more sustainable infrastructure and building projects.”

Joint Sustainability and Digitization

A special feature of the training lab is the permanent linking of sustainability and decarbonization with digitization, training and practical implementation. Climate protection is therefore treated as continuous task for the competence development in the construction and real estate sector.

Digital methods can help to compare planning versions, to make the commitment of resources traceable and to take more profound decisions on the life cycle of structures. The qualification offers shall enable companies to specifically apply such opportunities for sustainable design, construction and operation.

The focusses range from generative AI and BIM to digital design and data models up to circular economy and sustainable building. The offers are jointly developed with experts from design, engineering, standardization and the real estate industry – based on the actual qualification demand of the sector.

Cooperation as a Basis for Knowledge Transfer

Under the leadership of “Digital Findet Stadt” Austrian Standards plus, FCP, IG Lebenszyklus Bau, the association of civil engineering and engineering companies (VZI) and the association of Austrian project developers of the real estate sector (VÖPE) work together.

The consortium combines technical application, standardization and insight. FCP contributes the perspective of civil engineering practice. Thus, know-how shall become available beyond company boundaries and the digital as well as sustainable transformation of the Austrian construction and real estate industry.
